The Andaz Hotel in Amsterdam combines Dutch culture with the unconventional and innovative design by Marcel Wanders.
Marcel Wanders is a product and interior designer from Boxtel in the Netherlands. He drew international recognition for his Knotted Chair produced by Droog Design in 1996. Today, Wanders works for many international companies such as Flos, Alessi, Puma, KLM, MAC Cosmetics, Cappellini , B & B Italy, Moroso and Target. He is also co-founder and Artistic Director of the successful design label Moooi. To his credit also important architectural projects such as the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn, the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in Miami and Villa Moda store in Bahrain.
Many of his works are part of prestigious collections such as the MoMA in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the V & A Museum in London.
Marcel Wanders has an enthusiast, radical and determined personality and his design is eccentric character, innovative and recognizable. The vision of Marcel Wanders is fully expressed in the Andaz Hotel in Amsterdam, designed by the Dutch designer with the intent to interpret the both sophisticated and relaxed spirit of the people and the city. Located in the center of Amsterdam, between Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canal, the hotel instantly connects guests to the spirit of the place and offers an authentic and vibrant experience.
The hotel has a quirky atmosphere that combines Dutch culture with the unconventional and innovative design by Marcel Wanders. The designer was inspired by elements of local cultural heritage such as Delft Blue, the Golden Age and the tulips. Each space is full of beauty and force of vision given by original shapes and vibrant colors.
The bar, dominated by blue and soft lighting, is a relaxing environment to spend pleasant hours in conversation while enjoying a cocktail.
The Bluespoon Restaurant is also characterized by blue colour and welcomes guests in an informal and convivial atmosphere.
The breakfast buffet is lit by the hanging lamps Sky Garden by Wanders.
The 122 rooms are divided into three categories, standard, deluxe and suites. The standard rooms look out on the Observatory, a space in the lobby characterized by the theme of the universe.

The Andaz Large Suite is a rooftop overlooking the Observatory to one side and the channels to the other.
