It is not necessary to have a professional kitchen at home to be a great chef: suitable finishes, selected tools and optimization of movements are the key words of the perfect kitchen for those who spend most of their free time in the kitchen.

The guidelines to follow

Well organized kitchens are the result of careful planning aimed at making the most of the available space. For this reason it is important to contact an expert, who will help you easily find the most suitable solution for your home: taking inspiration from famous restaurants you can deduce some simple rules that will allow you to have a functional and long-lasting kitchen.

1. Select the most resistant materials

First of all, stainless steel and quartz (quartz agglomerate and quartz mixture) are the most resistant and indicated finishes for frequent use of the kitchen. Stainless steel is the most associated with professional kitchens, because it is an indestructible, hygienic, and easy-to-clean material, which is able to withstand heavy workloads.

2. Limit unnecessary movements

Having everything at your fingertips and in the most functional way as possible will greatly enhance your cooking experience. For this reason it is important to organize the space so that the various phases of the work follow each other in a logical way without wasting time.

3. Large worktop

The more the shelves, the better it is. A very useful element is the island (or the peninsula) used as a surface for food preparation, or as a cooking area. The island is a further functional surface, that not by chance represents the fulcrum of the kitchens in the restaurants. If the space does not allow it, you can fold up on removable shelves or on practical snack bar unit, useful for eating, too. Moreover, if you use kitchen robots, such as the blender, it is better to provide a wider worktop rather than the standard size.

4. Insertion of shelves and storage units

The insertion of open shelves or large storage unit near the worktop is also very convenient, as they are easily accessible and allow to have everything at hand, thus, making food preparation smoother. The storage unit can be equipped with internal dividers that will allow you to have everything in place.

5. Select the sink and the hood according to the needs

Finally, other elements that facilitate daily activities in the kitchen are the sink with two separate bowls, for washing and food preparation, and the extractor or filtering hood, in the latest generation versions with aluminium carbon filter.

Our project

In this project by Tomassini Arredamenti, the large kitchen represents the true heart of the home. The owners love cooking and invite often groups of friends, so they wanted to have a safe, well organized and equipped kitchen with all the comforts. The available space was very large, about 30 square meters, and the requests of the clients were those of having large worktops and many storage spaces.

The kitchen is organized over three sides with a central island and a snack bar unit. One of the walls is equipped with tall columns, in which are located the refrigerator and the two ovens. The bases and the top are made of white lacquer, the columns in dark grey lacquer, the top in Noir Saint Laurent marble and the snack bar unit in black elm.
