Born in Meda in 1950, Antonio Citterio begins creating design works in 1972, three years before obtaining a degree in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic.Between 1987 and 1996 Citterio worked with Terry Dwan and together they designed buildings in Europe and Japan.
In 1999 he founded with Patricia Viel “Antonio Citterio and Partners” with the intent to operate internationally even on complex projects.
This company has included in its name the name of Patricia Viel since 2009, and today is by far the most fortunate and famous architectural firm in Italy.
The talent of this great designer is apparent in many projects as factories, showrooms, hotels, residential and commercial complexes. However Citterio owes its fame to collaborations with famous brands of furniture including B&B Italia, Flexform, Moroso, Kartell and Flos.
For Kartell has created the unique chair Dolly, the extension table Baptist and system cabinets Mobil for which it was awarded of the Compasso d’Oro in 1994.
Citterio also founded Maxalto, a trademark by B&B Italia.
For B&B Italia Citterio realized the sofa system Sity, an entirely new idea of designing a simple sofa and place it in the environment. It is a seating system that remain autonomous from the point of view of function and structure.
For this creation Citterio won the first Compasso D’Oro in 1986.
Yet for this brand architect he realized in 2012 Iuta, a chair designed for a working environment with soft and light lines.
