Riva 1920 is a historic Italian family-run company, whose distinctive feature is the creation of furniture that can go beyond time, while respecting nature and the environment. The history of Riva 1920 began in 1920 in the workshop of the Italian artisan Nino Romano, where classic-style wooden furniture were produced. Duriing the aftermath of the Second World War, thanks to the entry of Romano's son-in-law, Mario Riva, the business began to grow, maintaining the original classic and artisanal style, but it was only in the '70s that Riva 1920 began to expand its production, devoting itself to custom-made furniture. with a focus on craftmanship aimed at making the most of natural wood, which will remain the two key principles of the company. The turning point came in the '90s, when, following Maurizio Riva's trip in North America, new types of wood were introduced, which allow the company to acquire national and international resonance, thanks also to its first participation at the Milan Design Week in 1992. From this moment on, the rise of Riva has been continuously growing: collaborations born with internationally renowned designers that determined the creation of products based on the two pivotal elements of the company, namely aesthetic functionality and environmental sustainability. In fact, Riva uses only natural materials and woods from reforestation areas, worked by master craftsmen, who have been the pride and the mark of recognition of the company for almost 100 years. Currently Riva counts collaborations with over 100 designers and is present on the Italian territory with three locations, but has kept unchanged the guidelines that have inspired its production since the beginning, that is to create products in which the love for nature and for the environment are enhanced by craftsmanship combined with the constant search for new methods and technologies, giving life to unique and timeless design objects.
